Ku De Ta

After so many years in operation, Ku De Ta remains the coolest night spot in Bali. This year they are celebrating their 10th Anniversary. Started by an Australian entrepreneur, Ku De Ta is actually an entertainment complex offering lounge areas, bar areas, and dining. They have added a 1st floor lounge area next to the beach for even better views at sunset.

When night falls, all the rich and beautiful in Bali gather at this trendy outpost to soak in the gold -gilded and diamond encrusted atmosphere. When we were there, the placed was packed. All the lounge chairs were taken, and there was standing room only on the deck next to the beach. The view of the sunset from here is truly beautiful, and I can see the attraction of very this cool but expensive establishment.

Cafe Wayan Ubud Bali

Roxuai : Cafe Wayan Ubud Bali

After miles of walking. This cafe is a good place to chill and relax. As you see in the pictures, you sit on a bamboo carpet and eat on a very low table. The food here is a bit pricey, and I dont think it is worth the money. If you're looking for good food, go someplace else, but if you're looking to just chill and relax, and maybe have some desserts or drinks, this is the place for you.

The atmosphere is lovely, set in a garden off the main, Monkey Forest Road, with fountains, statues, and traditional Balinese floor tables (don’t forget to remove your shoes  ), or Western tables with chairs. Service at Cafe Wayan, is with a smile, and during dinner there are plenty on staff to help meet your needs. Don’t feel the need to dress up too much; you are on a tropical vacation, after all

The restaurant serves an extensive menu of Balinese specialities and homemade breads. Café Wayan also provides Balinese cooking classes conducted upon request only. Cooking Classes are conducted on request in the gardens of Laka Leke - a sister restaurant in Nyuhkuning nearby Alam Indah hotel. If you happen to visit Ubud over the weekend, do not miss the sumptuous traditional Balinese buffet served every Sunday evening for only IDR 120,000 (around USD 12) per person.

When you enter the restaurant, you have no idea what can expect inside. The restaurant is located in a beautiful garden. The tables are far enough apart to ensure privacy. The staff is very friendly, professional and courteous. Various pavilions surrounded by flowers, trees, vines and ponds provide a beautiful ambient to very well prepared food to enjoy. Even if the card anmutet very international and Indonesian dishes are really good, and not cheap tourist food. It was a wonderful experience to eat there. The food is delicious and the selection is touted to be the huge Indonesian dishes. The ambient in the garden - unique. The staff tries hard to fulfill every wish, really very accommodating. the other dishes.

If you’re going to dine in Cafe Wayan & Bakery, do look for the outdoor seat at the back side of the yard. Ask for a table at the back by the small fish pond & do sit on cushions, not at the tables. And you’ll find yourself relax! I could even take a nap there. Although this place seems small and a little bit “dark” from the outside, back so far of the yard is incredible.

Favorite Dish: No favorite dish, come here to relax, have some drinks, and straighten your feet after miles of walking..

Surf at Kuta Beach

Roxuai : Surf at Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach is more appropiate for surfing rather than swimming as the waves in kuta beach are large and with riptides present. it was discovered by backpackers in the 1970's primarily as a surfing area too although you could swim in kuta beach, be careful of the stong currents and big waves. You will find avid surfers along the whole length of the beach trying to catch good waves to ride them and although the waves in the Banzai Pipeline in Oahu Hawaii is the best, Kuta beach has it's fair share of avid surfer dudes.

Surf at Kuta Beach
Surf at Kuta Beach

Once a lonely little village on the road from Denpasar to Bukit Peninsula, Kuta is now the tourist Mecca of Bali, popular mainly among the young and adventurous. Kuta beach is one of the first favorite beaches discovered by tourist. Coconut trees line the sand beach as far as the eyes can see towards the north stopped by the runway of Denpasar's airport far in the west. The sunset in Kuta is most breathtaking. On the south, the beach is fenced by the airport's runway, which gives the visitors a breathtaking landing experience. Kuta Beach bustles with tourists' vendors and locals. It's the most popular beach in Bali and the island's number one party zone. The beach stretches as far north as the eyes can see. As short walk away north, the waves will invite to surfing. Rapid development and an influx of visitors haven't kept the surfers away and Kuta still remains one of Bali's best surfing beaches and a great place to enjoy a beach lifestyle.

While the surfers are still part of the Kuta scene, it's the shopping, nightlife and party vibes that attracts thousands of visitors. There's a huge choice of accommodation, restaurants and entertainment. The accommodation in Kuta range from a modest home stay for a few dollars a night to luxurious, five star, international hotels costing several hundred to several thousand dollars a night. Legian Street, situated directly behind the row of hotels that face the beach, is lined with shops of all varieties. We can find any Balinese handicrafts here, from the least expensive to the most exquisite; or unique stores such as the leather store staffed by two young Balinese men that will perfectly sculpt a leather jacket. (They are all extremely talented artists). _At night, Kuta is alive with night life. Western influences create discotheques, dance clubs, and pubs. Gastronomical demands inspire a multitude of restaurants, serving traditional Indonesian and Balinese food to various ethnic meals from Japan, Switzerland, etc. As if these were not enough, various Balinese dance performances are staged in Kuta every night. One of the best Kecak performances is found in Kuta.

But for the stronger waves, most surfers go to the beach facing Tanah Lot Temple further north as the waves there are higher and are more powerful.

Twice Pizza Club: Poppies Lane 2 Bali

Roxuai : Twice Pizza Club: Poppies Lane 2 Bali

Among the many restaurants and snack stands lying along Poppies Lane 2 is one icon, the Twice Pizza Club, an Italian Food and Pizza Place located at the Second Floor and the owners also own the popular alternative and rock gig at the ground floor, the Twice Club. they have an extensive selection of italian dishes like good ole pastas like spaghetti with meatballs, alla carbonara, calzone, anti pasti and wood fired pizzas (available in regular, big and twice pizza size) and a few indonesian dishes and lots of cocktails and wine list too.

Very good Italian food being in Bali. Found the pizza very good, the parmigiana quite OK, can be done better tho, and the pasta nice as well. Went there for a late lunch and the terrace was all empty for us so we had all the attention of the service. Everything was nice and the price was excelent.

Istana Kuta Galeria: Bali

Roxuai : Istana Kuta Galeria: Bali

Ok, this shopping mall is not successfull, not many people go here but is you passed the place you will have a big question mark in your head, "what the hell is this building??" it supposed to be a shopping arcade with all kind of shops in it. the building is full of fake ornament from a fake giant pinaple to greek god style of statues, all glued to the building as decorations. it has a giant parking lot (never worry about not get a parking space here) and the food court is recommended because it's cheap, clean and serve all kind of food.

What to buy: home furnishing, food and drink, clothes, etc etc

Uluwatu Temple Bali

Roxuai : Uluwatu Temple Bali

Uluwatu Temple is situated at an altitude of 1997 meters (6551.8 feet) above sea level. It is also a sea temple. In front of the temple there is a small forest called kekeran base, serves as a support of the sanctity of the temple. Each of the seven Balinese sea temples are said to be visible from the next, forming a ‘chain’ around the coast of Bali. Many of the most important sea temples are along the south-west coast of the island.

Bali, the famed Island of the Gods, with landscapes of lush rice terraces, volcanic hillsides, mountains, rugged cliffs, sandy beaches and wonderful waves for surfing. That is what people might think of for a vacation to Bali. But even from this sweet infinity pool at the Boutique Hotel Ubud Hanging Gardens, there is a temple in the background. In fact, after looking around a bit, there is little wonder why Bali is also called the “island of a thousand temples.

I spent quite some time at Alila Uluwatu and almost missed the sunset at Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Luckily I made it there in the nick of time. The sunset there is breathtaking as always.

The parking area outside the temple compound is usually full with cars and tourist vans. There is a short walk to the temple through a footpath. Before going through the gate, don't forget to pay the small entrance charge and put on a sarong which is mandatory for men, or ladies wearing short pants. There is no lighting along the footpath, so it can get a bit dark. Bring a torch if you can.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is located at one of the most spectacular locations in Bali. This is where you come to watch the famous Bali sunset over the Indian Ocean, and it is quite a sight to behold. Somehow the old temple architects have found a way to harmonize their structures with nature, with the man-made structures serving to enhance the view rather then detract from the natural beauty. This is the lesson that architects often learn from Bali - that it is possible to work with nature and achieve more rather then to compete with it.

The spectacular coastline at Uluwatu. I particularly love the colour of the sea here.

The Temple itself is very old - it is one of the oldest in Bali. The original temple structure - built of coral stone, is in a ruinous state, which adds to the mystery of the place. Like all the temples in Bali, this is still a fully functioning temple. Devotees come to worship and make offerings here on special occasions, like during the night of my visit. The priest wasn't too happy with my phototaking - but the rest of the devotees didn't mind so much.

Like many other temple areas in Bali, there are lots of monkeys around. Monkeys are considered sacred in Bali, and are featured frequently in Hindu legends. You are advised not to play with, or feed the monkeys. They can be a bit aggressive, so hold on to you handbags, hats and sunglasses or they may grab them.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of the must-visit places in Bali, and it is easy to see why. This is what Bali is about.

Bread Talk Discovery Mall Kuta Bali

Roxuai : Bread Talk Discovery Mall Kuta Bali

The best thing about the mall is BreadTalk. I'd been looking forward to it for a while. I grabbed a few cheese buns and a yummy pastry and came back to the hotel. You can chose and pick by yourself the pieces of bread you want and then pay.I didnt see a place to sit inside the shop so I did as everyone was doing, took the food and sit outside on the stairs watching people passing by ;) The hotel is actually quite quiet during the day but it gets busy in the evening when people come to the bar. The staff have a reputation for being nice and friendly so people who aren't staying here come in the evening as well.

Favorite Dish:

Most of the bread pieces are sweets but you can find also spicy and pizza style pieces.

Pizza Hut Kuta Bali

Roxuai : Pizza Hut Kuta Bali

Pizza hut was great for me ! I liked the pasta more than the pizza, service was very good and price was reasonable. My favorite Dish: Pasta, Garlic bread. Pizza Hut in Bali is a must try because their tuna pizza is STUFFED FULL of tuna. very generous with ingredients and "ada standard"! Food at Pizza Hut was good, decided to skip Starbucks and visited their local cafe instead. Coffee was good and the place was very windy, cosy and relaxing. Kuta beach area have very strong wind therefore my hair was very messy the entire 3 days!  The food was great, the service was excellent, and the ambiance (being across from the beach) was superb. I will definitely return to that Pizza Hut .
