Alila Villas Uluwatu Bali

Roxuai Alila Villas Uluwatu Bali

The new generation of luxury resorts in Bali are ultra-exclusive and very design-oriented. One of the prime examples is Alila Uluwatu. Heralded as the latest Sustainable Luxury Resort in Bali, Alila Uluwatu was built using mostly local materials to reduce its carbon footprint and its impact on the local environment. Even the landscaping was done using mostly local native plants.

Staking a stylish claim on Bali’s rugged Bukit Peninsula, Alila Villas Uluwatu is a cool, contemporary cliff-hanger of a resort which delivers dramatic eco-friendly design in a jaw-dropping setting. Panoramic views over the Indian Ocean complement architecturally striking pool villas, each with serene, minimalist interiors, seductive outdoor living spaces and personal butlers on tap. Stir in a top spa, fine dining and legendary surfing, and it's a delicious cocktail.

The Architects

The architects are WOHA from Singapore. Borrowing heavily from Carlo Scarpa, they have created a design that is simple in planning, yet very rich and stylish in details. The basic forms are rectilinear, augmented by careful detailing to give depth to the structures. Courtyards, sun-screens and gazebos are designed to catch the light and provide visual interest, besides serving as tranquil hideaways for the guests.

As with many Bali high-end resorts, the location is purposely remote and difficult to find. This small road seemed to go on forever before you reach the resort.

The main entrance porch - typically understated, except that here you have a whole coterie of hotel staff to greet you upon arrival.

The Alila Uluwatu is a resort which once you arrive, you don’t want to leave. The rates start at around USD 650 per night, so it is not cheap to enjoy such luxury - but it is definitely worth the money for the location, spectacular design, exclusivity and service. I would definitely stay here if I could afford it !

Dolphins Watching at Lovina Beach Bali

Dolphins Watching at Lovina Beach Bali

@Roxuai : Dolphins Watching at Lovina Beach Bali

Buzz Buzz , darn alarm clock! A 530 am start. We made our way to the Black sand of Lovina Beach for an early morning tea or coffee. The Bali sea was like a mirror as we boarded the small fishing boat. Our Guide pushed the boat out from the beach and started the motor and off we went towards the edge of the reef around 2 kilometres from the beach. It was beautiful out there as the sun rose over the mountains behind us and the reflection of the sun on the ocean was a magical moment.

We searched the ocean for the dolphins, I yell there and pointed off to the right and we headed towards the dolphins. Before to long more and more boats had joined us in the chase the dolphin game. I'm sure the dolphins were playing games with us appearing and disappearing while boats chased and searched for them for a few hours. The show the dolphins put on was great to experience, with many leaping out of the water. After a few hours we started heading back to the beach. From out in the ocean Lovina looked magical and oozed charm the small sleep fishing village in-cased with smoke and early morning mist. It was a great experience to view the dolphins in their natural environment.

To be able to see the attraction of wild dolphins, you have to leave early when the sun will rise. Why? Since the dolphins in this region appears only between the hours of 6 am to 8 am. At that hour, dozens of dolphins will air attractions naturally show their activities. There are just swimming in the water, there is also skipping. Of course this will create awe of the beauty of the black sea animals. Usually the tourists had gathered on the beach at around 5:30 pm to go to sea. You can hire a fishing boat that had been prepared for the journey. The journey begins with a small boat that could only carry a maximum of 4 people in addition to the fishermen. The boat will take you approximately one to two miles to the sea to where the dolphin would normally appear.

If you are going to Bali, don't ever miss the Dolphin Watching .. It may not be very popular yet, but it's a 5star thing to do ... You will never be dissapointed. Once in the sea, adrenalin pumps as we wait for dolphins to surface again and again ... It was worth to lose sleep for just to catch a glimpse of these heavenly creatues. We didn't mind the countless hours of driving from Kuta and finally our arrival in Lovina was at 9pm. Stopping occasionally at tourists attractions, we managed to see the best of Bali. Dolphin watching changed my perspective on Bali. This was super fun and the best stop ever.

Every morning small boats leave Lovina beach Bali at sunset packed with tourists in search of dolphins. I was one of these tourists - wanting to see and take home pictures of dolphins at Lovina Beach Bali up close. I didn't realise when I booked the trip that there would be so many boats, that they made such a huge amount of noise in the water, and that when the dolphins were sighted, it was almost as if the boats worked together to herd the dolphins into a confined space for the benefit of the tourists.

To be able to see the attraction of dolphins live in the sea off the coast of Lovina, you were staying in Denpasar have to leave at 3 am. I choose to stay for one night in Lovina, because dolphin hunting will begin in the morning from 6 am until 8 am local time, when the sun will rise. Around 5:30 pm, I along with other tourists had gathered on the beach. The dolphins in the waters of Lovina we can find when we are at a distance of about 1-2 km from the shoreline. Travelling here using a fishing boat that had been prepared for this dolphin search and carry a maximum of four passengers. Lovina Beach waters are relatively calm making this trip to be safe, although service providers still recommend to use a lifejacket during the trip. By paying RP 75.000/person, we can see the attraction of animals is man's best friend. During the trip, we can see the natural beauty of Lovina is decorated sun began to wake from sleep.

Lovina Beach Dolphins Photos

Hard to capture dolphin image with pocket Camera, coupled with other conditions where dozens of boats were immediately swarmed the hordes of dolphins surfacing, suddenly make a run for the dolphins that had just appeared. Dolphins are as if already familiar with this game at all. They will appear randomly in different positions as if asking for boats to catch them. For additional information, we are not guaranteed to always see dolphins attraction, everything totally dependent on natural conditions, such as sea levels, wind direction, and our luck.

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Kuta Beach Bali

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is the world's number one Fried Chicken Chain and is also popular around Indonesia and at Bali Island. In fact, they have many branches around kuta and other areas of Bali and like in other regions of the World. KFC also offers regional menus besides the tried and tested chicken recipes. one major difference here is that there is no gravy available in it's branches in Bali as anyone knows that gravy is mostly beef based and since most Balinese are Hindu, it is forbidden for them to eat beef and products with beef and hence the sauces available in KFC outlemts here are regular tomato ketchup, sweet chili sauce and teriyaki sauce. We tried their branch here at Discovery Plaza Mall in JL Kartika Plaza

Opens:

10:00 am to 10:00 pm everyday

Favorite Dish:

what elso but the classic kfc 2 piece original chicken meal with large softdrink combo at 35,000 rupiah and the chicken teriyaki combo at 32,000 rupiah and again, instead of gravy, you can either get sweet chili sauce or tomato kethcup as a dip.

Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

@ Roxuai : Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

Sky Garden is very close to the Sari and the Paddy’s Club where the bombings had taken place. The night was glowing and crowds were all over the street. Legian resembled any other South Asia nightspot like the Walking Street of Pattaya,  Patong in Phuket or Changkat in KL. There were very few Indians though on the streets.  Most of the crowd was Australian or European.

Without much thought, I sprang inside, hoping to catch some beer and music. The place was massive and had multiple dance floors at various levels all roaring with music. The place also had a nice terrace bar from which you could get a bird’s eye view of the Denpasar landscape. The dance floor in the centre was huge and this is where most of the action seemed to be. It was encapsulated within a huge dome which resembled the night sky, thanks, to the terrific effects generated by laser. There was spiral staircase which rose into the galleries overlooking the central dance floor. After a detailed recce, I decided to pick up a Bintang a popular Indonesian Beer and settled on a bar stool overlooking the central dance floor. The laser show emanating from the stage was pulsating. I began to feel the beat as DJ Chardy  was belting the latest in hip hop. I must confess that I was beginning to enjoy the music even though I know very little about hip hop. As the night was sinking in, I felt, a strong hand on my shoulder.

The main stage was buzzing with pyro technics and laser shows. One of the shows in which the artist transformed the laser cords into a giant musical instrument, was particularly impressive. There was Lebanese guy who was playfully blocking my mobile camera as I tried to take pictures. On the other side a Chinese group kept taking tequila shots till they could no longer stand. The ubiquitous Australians were all over shouting, singing and roaring into the night. By now Pandeyji was many a drinks down and was in his elements. He took the centre stage and I could see flashes of Dharmendar as he danced.  Nevertheless he was getting applauded from all across.

The Balinese are a hardy lot. They surely have bounced back from the events of 2002. The place now, is a melting pot, where you can find people from all over the World merging into the spirits and the chants of  the Kecak dance. Bali is an island of tranquility, tolerance and acceptance in a region which is otherwise struggling with its identity. Like all beautiful places , Bali too has been hit hard but as someone says the World is a mean place and it will hit you hard and keep you down on your knees if you let it. But it isn’t about how hard you can hit back , it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. Bali has moved a long way and  it will keep moving forward as the God's reside here.

The Stones Hotel Legian Bali

Roxuai : The Stones Hotel Legian Bali

The Stones Legian Bali is a nice hotel.   It is located toward the end of the Jalan Pantai Kuta toward Legian, which is at the rather quite part of Jalan Pantai Kuta.    I found the location is ok, as I can still walk to the Beachwalk mall area (which is in the middle of Jalan Pantai Kuta) for about 10-15 minutes leisure walk along the beach.

The rooms are elegantly decorated in natural colors , and equipped with a coffee maker , flat screen TV , and an iPod dock . You can enjoy views of the garden or the swimming pool from the window . Each private bathroom provides shower facilities , hairdryer , bathrobes , and complimentary toiletries .Luggage storage and safe deposit box is available at the front desk 24 hours . You can work out in the gym , relax in the spa and wellness center , or take a walk in the park . In addition to offering laundry and ironing services , the hotel also provides car and bicycle rental service at an additional cost .

Here are how the open lobby looks like.  I like the back light that keep changing.   Upon arrival at the front desk, they will provided you with towel, which came as a cube and they immersed it into the water and also a Popsicle.  The popsicle came in 3 layers if I remember correctly and each came from different fruit flavour.

The Stones Hotel - Legian Bali, Autograph Collection by Marriott Review

There is a beach in front of you, Kuta beach which is very famous and also very crowded.  So you can swim or surf right in front of the hotel area.   Granted some people will argue the beach of the Seminyak area may be better, but if you want everything (beach, shopping, food) within walking distance, this may be one of the good hotel to be at Bali.
