@ Roxuai : Top 15 Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia With Video
The best & great surf spots in Bali are mostly on the southern coasts & around the Bukit peninsula. These fun playgrounds are strictly for advanced surfers as they mostly comprise serious reef breaks & greater curls compared to the more popular & leisurely sandy breaks of Kuta & Legian. Hazardous for beginners, some of these reefs provide consistent waves that pros love, & some such as Padang Padang regularly host major surfing championships due to their long & consistent barrels, while the legendary breaks of Uluwatu provide an exotic towering temple backdrop with a steady supply of large swells.Top 15 Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia With Video
Here’s my compilation of the best & great surf spots in Bali where you can line up & ride world-class waves together with skilled dudes from around the world.Video #1. Padang Padang
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #1 is Padang-Padang. Padang Padang is a favourite spot due to its consistent barrels, & most of all, its accessibility & unique hollow rock entrance that opens out onto an exotic, long white sandy beach. It is located between Bingin & Uluwatu, & the beach is a regular host for international surfing events, such as the regular Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang. The powerful & consistent waves are an average four feet & above. Definitely for the pros, sharp reef dwell underneath the beautiful barrels, which occasionally break onto the rocks. Although the waves are limited to advanced surfers, the beach gets crowded especially on the weekends.Video #2. Impossibles
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #2 is Imposibles. This famous spot is located between Bingin & Padang Padang, & features a long reef. Its nickname implies that it was once an intimidating break, urging experienced surfers to conquer its waves. Impossibles comprises three takeoff zones (or ‘peaks’), the first of which is accessible via Padang Padang (our next spot to the north). The two others are accessible from the spot’s midsection. Here you’ll get long & powerful swells with consistent barrels to enjoy. The waves average two to five feet. Your search for the spot & the challenging surf are all paid off well by the wonderful panorama of its beautiful beach & irregular rock formations.Video #3. Uluwatu
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #3 is Uluwatu. Uluwatu is a classic, famous not only for its top waves but also for its location & the overall experience of surfing with beautiful scenery & Bali’s unique temple landmark. Where else in the world can you sit in the line up after catching a big one & look up on the hill to see an ancient Hindu shrine & magnificent cliff face? Crowds become a factor when the waves are under four feet, but it really shines as it begins to produce epic barrels of over four. It’s good to refer to tide charts or local knowledge on tide directions. Remember to bring your favourite board, reef booties, & some cash for a great after-surf massage at one of the warungs on the cliff. Beware of the current as the tide changes, or you may be swept all the way down to Padang-Padang before you know it. That’s one of our next spots. But our next closest is Suluban.\Video #4. Suluban
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #4 is Suluban. Not far north from Uluwatu is the secluded surfers’ paradise of Suluban. Suluban, which has acquired the nickname, ‘Blue Point’, is unique & has its own appeal, including a beautiful narrow beach where many sunbathers crowd. Getting to the beach is an adventure down steep staircases & rocky openings that require you to bend down a bit in order to get through. You must first make your way down the narrow path down the somewhat treacherous steps into a cave, then out onto the sand. Suluban in Balinese means to ‘crouch under’, which is easily understandable. The main appeal for surfers is its long & powerful swells & consistent barrels. The cliff top is lined with shacks overlooking the thrills & horizon.Video #5. Bingin
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #5 is Bingin. Bingin is an hour’s drive down from Kuta, & only several minutes north from Uluwatu. The waves here aren’t as big as Uluwatu’s, but being on the same south-western side of the Bukit peninsula, it shares the same hazardous reef. Bingin’s barrels are consistent, much like its sister spot of Uluwatu but a little shorter. This makes it a bit of a challenge in catching a good wave in time. Tides similarly play a factor here, so it’s good to keep your tide charts handy or ask around some local surfers who know the playgrounds well. Expect more crowds here than Uluwatu, as the waves are less intimidating.Video #6. Balangan
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #6. Just north from the now crowded & overdeveloped Dreamland Beach, Balangan is a surfing paradise with a kilometre long stretch of white sand & green seaweed covered rocks. The reef is right in front of the beach, & it has southern swells with one of the longest left-hander breaks on the island that range from four to six feet. The beach is slowly sharing the similar fate of Dreamland, as once secluded beaches that now have improved access. Expect some crowds.Video #7. Green Bowl
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #7. Reaching to this spot is an adventure, located on the southernmost tip of the island beside the closed Bali Cliff Resort. The beach appeals to lovers of quiet & exotic shores, who don’t mind going hundreds of concrete steps down a cliff face to its secluded beach. At the base are several bat caves that add to its list of unique features. Green Bowl has consistent swells, as well as the strongest southern ocean currents that move out to sea in unpredictable directions, so it is strictly only for experienced surfers. Crowds are a hit & miss, but most of the time it isn’t much packed, owing to its far flung location & tough access.Video #8. Canggu
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #8. Out from the Bukit, we head off to the more familiar destinations north of Kuta & Seminyak. Canggu has many different surf spots. One of the most famous is Pantai Batu Mejan, nicknamed by surfers as ‘Echo Beach’. The waves are usually larger than Kuta's, especially in the mornings. The black sand beach & reef breaks have something for everyone, from intermediate to advance. Sets tend to shift during the day, & you might find yourself sitting in the line-up waiting for as long as half an hour before scoring the right wave. The waves are usually fast, & most prefer the lefts than the rights. You can find more peaks down the coast towards Pererenan Beach on its northwest.Video #9. Keramas
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #9. On the island’s eastern coast in Gianyar, this black sand beach is a long-time favourite. With a wide-open ocean view facing Nusa Lembongan, the Keramas beach break is now the home to the Komune Beach Resort, which presents night surfing spectacles, as if day surfing weren’t enough. Eastern swells pick up & break over an uneven lava reef. The waves are mostly fast right-handers & average up to five feet. It is one of Bali’s world-class waves, & the new beach resort & club has upped the hype. Keramas is also a regular host to major sponsor title pro & grommet events such as Billabong & Oakley.Video #10. Nusa Lembongan
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #10. This small island southeast of the Bali mainland has several favourite breaks; one of them is nicknamed & marked by a ship that ran aground on its northwestern reefs. ‘Shipwrecks’ as it is named, gets packed with surfers of all standards, but only the daring, skilled & strong-willed will be able to secure a good barrel. Even so, it is not for beginners as the waves break onto the reef that is practically a ship burial ground. Other spots to the south include Lacerations & Playgrounds that all break across a shallow reef. Getting to these playing fields is a boat ride out, setting off from Nusa Lembongan’s Mushroom Bay, & only enjoyable if you’re spending more than a day on this quaint resort island.Video #11. Kuta
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #11. The easiest & most beginner friendly beach to try your surfing skills is Kuta beach. The beach is close to the nightlife & tourist center of Legian, hence the beach is always crowded. As a surfing spot, Kuta is very appropriate for beginners. The soft tide & average height of the waves make it a good first step for beginner to try out white water surfing (surfing the waves after they break & roll towards the beach). The good thing here is that there are plenty of lifeguards on the lookout, might you get into trouble (the undertow can get quite strong). Also, it might be a good idea to follow a surfing lesson (just ask one of the surfing dudes renting out boards at Kuta beach). For experts, Kuta beach’s swell will be to easy to defeat.Video #12. Seminyak
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #12. Seminyak is a beautiful white-grey sandy beach just north of Legian. It offers plenty of swell, which can be double the size of that found at Kuta. Almost all the famous establishments in Seminyak have views of great rideable waves in front of them, the likes of Ku De Ta and La Lucciola, best known as Petitenget Beach, owing to the landmark temple there. Here you’ll get lefts and rights, with short lengths suitable for kids and beginners. Another favourite coast belonging to Seminyak is known as Dhyana Pura, right on the borders of Legian. It’s a good beach break, about the same quality as Kuta, but less crowded and there are several surf camps and schools along the coast, that enable you to eat, sleep and hone your wave riding skills.Video #13. Tuban
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #13. The Ngurah Rai International Airport’s strip juts out to sea around 1.5 kilometres south of the Kuta break. The surf spots here are aptly named ‘Airport Lefts’ and ‘Airport Rights’. The greater swells of up to five feet are beyond a reef that requires a rented boat ride out, while beginners can enjoy the considerably rideable waves near the shore. Lefts is north of the airstrip, while Rights is accessible from Lefts via boat ride encircling the runway to its south. Crowds are unpredictable, but most of the time it is not as busy as Kuta.Video #14. Echo Beach
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #14. Echo Beach is a famous surfing point in Bali Island situated in west of Denpasar City favored by the big and powerful wave that suitable for surfing adventures. This beach is also featured by the amazing panorama to the Indian Ocean, white sandy beach stretch from Seminyak Beach extending to the west side and good access that very easy to reach it. This beach is a favorite surfing point for surfers because the big wave, rolling and challenging hence many surfers from foreign countries and local come to this place. The beach is blessed by the stunning panorama of sunset that creates the romantic nuance for every visitor. The surfers much love this place because of the big wave and they have appointed this beach as one of the best surfing points in Bali Island. There are more than two surf spots available here that can be enjoyed by the surfers that provide many opportunities for surf adventureVideo #15. Batu Bolong
Best Surf Spot in Bali Indonesia #15. Batu Bolong Beach is one of surfing points in Bali located at Canggu Spot featured by the great wave and powerful wave that is ideally for surfing adventures. Batu Bolong Beach is a beautiful beach located in Canggu, west of Denpasar City appointed as one of best surf spots and tourist place in Bali. The wave at Batu Bolong breaks far out and peels slowly in a straight line towards shore. A good wave for practicing your cutbacks. Very popular with the local longboarders and SUP'ers. Beginners can just ride the whitewater straight in. The winds always seem to pickup around midday, when the kite surfers take over batu bolong and its time to head to echo beach for a cold beer. They usually fade at 4 just in time for a sunset surf. You can rent surfboards from the entrepreneurs at Suta board hire just behind Batu Bolong. Beginners should be careful however as the area is un-patrolled.source : http://www.bali-indonesia.com
