Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

@ Roxuai : Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

Sky Garden is very close to the Sari and the Paddy’s Club where the bombings had taken place. The night was glowing and crowds were all over the street. Legian resembled any other South Asia nightspot like the Walking Street of Pattaya,  Patong in Phuket or Changkat in KL. There were very few Indians though on the streets.  Most of the crowd was Australian or European.

Without much thought, I sprang inside, hoping to catch some beer and music. The place was massive and had multiple dance floors at various levels all roaring with music. The place also had a nice terrace bar from which you could get a bird’s eye view of the Denpasar landscape. The dance floor in the centre was huge and this is where most of the action seemed to be. It was encapsulated within a huge dome which resembled the night sky, thanks, to the terrific effects generated by laser. There was spiral staircase which rose into the galleries overlooking the central dance floor. After a detailed recce, I decided to pick up a Bintang a popular Indonesian Beer and settled on a bar stool overlooking the central dance floor. The laser show emanating from the stage was pulsating. I began to feel the beat as DJ Chardy  was belting the latest in hip hop. I must confess that I was beginning to enjoy the music even though I know very little about hip hop. As the night was sinking in, I felt, a strong hand on my shoulder.

The main stage was buzzing with pyro technics and laser shows. One of the shows in which the artist transformed the laser cords into a giant musical instrument, was particularly impressive. There was Lebanese guy who was playfully blocking my mobile camera as I tried to take pictures. On the other side a Chinese group kept taking tequila shots till they could no longer stand. The ubiquitous Australians were all over shouting, singing and roaring into the night. By now Pandeyji was many a drinks down and was in his elements. He took the centre stage and I could see flashes of Dharmendar as he danced.  Nevertheless he was getting applauded from all across.

The Balinese are a hardy lot. They surely have bounced back from the events of 2002. The place now, is a melting pot, where you can find people from all over the World merging into the spirits and the chants of  the Kecak dance. Bali is an island of tranquility, tolerance and acceptance in a region which is otherwise struggling with its identity. Like all beautiful places , Bali too has been hit hard but as someone says the World is a mean place and it will hit you hard and keep you down on your knees if you let it. But it isn’t about how hard you can hit back , it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. Bali has moved a long way and  it will keep moving forward as the God's reside here.

Bali Nightlife : Vi Ai Pi Club and Lounge Legian

Roxuai : Bali Nightlife : Vi Ai Pi Club and Lounge Legian

It’s no secret that the main thoroughfare in Kuta, the infamous Jalan Legian is home to a string of establishments that are known chiefly for their throbbing nightlife and club-hopping with a troupe of mates, but it’s also a hot-spot where loads of great food options are available too. Vi Ai Pi club, located right smack bang in the centre of town, is one of them, with a top notch menu of lip-smacking local and Western style fare, super friendly service and live music, all housed in their breezy upstairs venue.

A short hop up the entrance steps reveals an open-sided dining room with the large central bar in the centre and main stage directly above the staircase. The chic black décor and industrial touches give off a classy air that makes for an extremely pleasant place to sit and watch the throng of people pass by below.

The Vi Ai Pi is one of the landmarks in the JL Legian area and sits just a few steps away from the Bali Bomb Memorial and lies across the exit of Poppies Lane 2 to JL Legian. It is one of the more vibrant bars cum lounge in JL Legian and offers open air comfort in a two storey building and they have nightly live bands performing assorted music like RNB, Pop, Hip Hop, Rock and more and with no cover charge. they also have periodic bikini contests in the second floor. this huge area comprises a night club on the ground floor, restaurant and live band at the second floor and an underground bar in the basement for different kinds of party people. located just beside the huge Sky Garden Legian 61 club, many people go here to have a drink and then party to the nearby Sky Garden Legian 61 club or to the Engine Room or to M Club or Bounty Discotheque. the crowd here is mixed, unlike in sky garden where most are caucasians.

Vi Ai Pi is a bar, club and restaurant located next to Sky Garden in Kuta, Bali. When it opened it brought a little modernity into Kuta's nightlife, then dominated by Paddy's, Bounty and MBargo. The design is stylish, especially on the first floor, and the sound system great. Unfortunately, it is probably not as popular as expected; if no special events are on, the first floor will probably remain empty, while the second one, with dance floor music (all the famous hits), has only a few wandering guests. To spice things up a little, they may have sexy bikini dancers on once in a while (usually Javanese girl, something foreign). For those used to party in Jakarta. it is very mild and harmless.

Vi Ai Pi is established at September 4th 2008 as Tapaz Bar. After 3 years it's concept was changed to Western and Italian Restaurant, with Vi Ai Pi Club and Lounge on the 2nd floor, also adding the Under Ground Bar, Located at the back of Vi Ai Pi. Vi Ai Pi opens every day from 11:00 am until 3:00 am. Located in Jalan Legian next to Bali Memorial, they provide big free parking space right behind their restaurant for all their customers. They serve Italian, Western and Indonesian cuisines, with price between 35K and 200K. The restaurant has capacity of 200 persons (sitting), while the club fits 400 400 persons (standing). Special package for private dining or parties is available.

Poppies Lane 2 Kuta Bali

Roxuai : Poppies Lane 2 Kuta Bali

Poppies Lane 2 has a vibrant nightlife unlike Poppies Lane 1, which has just a few bars and clubs and restaurants. The area of Poppies Lane near JL Legian is the favorite of mostly australian and european tourists and a smattering of asians and they tend to hang around the famous clubs and bars here like Alleycats, Bagusn Pub, The Steps, Piggy's Bar, Twice Bar and more, before hitting the dancefloors at the clubs on Jalan Legian like Sky Lounge or Vi Ai Pi or Bounty. Gets busy from 9 pm until midnight.

along the 3 alleyways that connect JL Pantai Kuta to JL Legian aside from the main roads, Poppies Lane 2 is the most popular of the backpacker alleys and The Alley starts just before the beachwalk mall in JI Pantai Kuta and zig zags along and it has a side entrance to the beach walk mall along the alley and proceeds to JL Legian where the exit is. Near JL Pantai Kuta are mostly the assorted souvenir shops that sells assorted souvenir items and crafts and some sprinkling of bars and then a number of budget hotels, Inns, Guesthouses and then lots of restaurants, sports bars, bars and pubs and convenience store as it goes near the entrance to JL legian. The alleyway has a more vibrant nightlige than Poppies Lane 1.

Dress Code: casual, flip flops and beachwear are allowed

Gabah Restaurant and Bar Kuta Bali

Roxuai : Gabah Restaurant and Bar Kuta Bali

This used to be the old Ramayana Bridge Restaurant before they renovated and updated the place. Now it is a lovely modern ambient restaurant that has great food and staff. Where it once had a wall partly protecting it from the road it is all open which, when eating at peak times gives you lots of interesting driving techniques to watch as the traffice all try to get around that tight area by the Kuta market. There are welcome cold towels on arrival and warm "welcome bread rolls"

Gabah Restaurant and Bar is located in the heart of the tourist zone which makes it a significant restaurant to visit when we are here. When we enter the restaurant, we are greeted with quiet ambience which provides us with extra peacefulness when we dine. The most famous set meal in the restaurant is meant for four persons. Whenever this dish is served, it will be comes with a line of waitress and waiter who trumpet the set meal out from the kitchen to the table. As a customer there, you might experience this scene a multiple of times if you stay there for quite a while.

Since I came in 2, therefore it does not seem advisable for me to order the famous dish. Instead, I order a set meal which is meant for 2 persons.

There is a substantial menu split into sections pizza, Indonesian, Western plus a good cocktail & wine list. Gone are the days of rock music blaring out from restaurants there was very pleasant background music quiet enough to be able to chat but loud enough that you arent listening to the next tables conversation. A little more expensive than many of the smaller restaurants but still very reasonable we paid approx $AU40 on each visit we had a glass of wine each plus a diet coke meal & dessert and came away feeling very satisfied.
