Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

@ Roxuai : Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

Sky Garden is very close to the Sari and the Paddy’s Club where the bombings had taken place. The night was glowing and crowds were all over the street. Legian resembled any other South Asia nightspot like the Walking Street of Pattaya,  Patong in Phuket or Changkat in KL. There were very few Indians though on the streets.  Most of the crowd was Australian or European.

Without much thought, I sprang inside, hoping to catch some beer and music. The place was massive and had multiple dance floors at various levels all roaring with music. The place also had a nice terrace bar from which you could get a bird’s eye view of the Denpasar landscape. The dance floor in the centre was huge and this is where most of the action seemed to be. It was encapsulated within a huge dome which resembled the night sky, thanks, to the terrific effects generated by laser. There was spiral staircase which rose into the galleries overlooking the central dance floor. After a detailed recce, I decided to pick up a Bintang a popular Indonesian Beer and settled on a bar stool overlooking the central dance floor. The laser show emanating from the stage was pulsating. I began to feel the beat as DJ Chardy  was belting the latest in hip hop. I must confess that I was beginning to enjoy the music even though I know very little about hip hop. As the night was sinking in, I felt, a strong hand on my shoulder.

The main stage was buzzing with pyro technics and laser shows. One of the shows in which the artist transformed the laser cords into a giant musical instrument, was particularly impressive. There was Lebanese guy who was playfully blocking my mobile camera as I tried to take pictures. On the other side a Chinese group kept taking tequila shots till they could no longer stand. The ubiquitous Australians were all over shouting, singing and roaring into the night. By now Pandeyji was many a drinks down and was in his elements. He took the centre stage and I could see flashes of Dharmendar as he danced.  Nevertheless he was getting applauded from all across.

The Balinese are a hardy lot. They surely have bounced back from the events of 2002. The place now, is a melting pot, where you can find people from all over the World merging into the spirits and the chants of  the Kecak dance. Bali is an island of tranquility, tolerance and acceptance in a region which is otherwise struggling with its identity. Like all beautiful places , Bali too has been hit hard but as someone says the World is a mean place and it will hit you hard and keep you down on your knees if you let it. But it isn’t about how hard you can hit back , it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. Bali has moved a long way and  it will keep moving forward as the God's reside here.

Poppies Lane 2 Kuta Bali

Roxuai : Poppies Lane 2 Kuta Bali

Poppies Lane 2 has a vibrant nightlife unlike Poppies Lane 1, which has just a few bars and clubs and restaurants. The area of Poppies Lane near JL Legian is the favorite of mostly australian and european tourists and a smattering of asians and they tend to hang around the famous clubs and bars here like Alleycats, Bagusn Pub, The Steps, Piggy's Bar, Twice Bar and more, before hitting the dancefloors at the clubs on Jalan Legian like Sky Lounge or Vi Ai Pi or Bounty. Gets busy from 9 pm until midnight.

along the 3 alleyways that connect JL Pantai Kuta to JL Legian aside from the main roads, Poppies Lane 2 is the most popular of the backpacker alleys and The Alley starts just before the beachwalk mall in JI Pantai Kuta and zig zags along and it has a side entrance to the beach walk mall along the alley and proceeds to JL Legian where the exit is. Near JL Pantai Kuta are mostly the assorted souvenir shops that sells assorted souvenir items and crafts and some sprinkling of bars and then a number of budget hotels, Inns, Guesthouses and then lots of restaurants, sports bars, bars and pubs and convenience store as it goes near the entrance to JL legian. The alleyway has a more vibrant nightlige than Poppies Lane 1.

Dress Code: casual, flip flops and beachwear are allowed
