Sky Garden Rooftop Lounge Legian : Bali Nightlife

Roxuai : Sky Garden Rooftop Lounge Legian Bali
I love this place! Very nice (and big) place, cool crowd, hugeee variety of music. Whenever I go to Bali, Sky Garden is always the first in my to-do list. The FDC is pretty cheap too!. Very very recommended for you who want a great rooftop experience and different choices of music. The rooftop of the famous Legian 61 buidling in JL Legian is the main party venue of Bali. Legian 61 is the hotspot of partying but the roof top Legian Sky Garden 61 (oficially caled Sky Garden Rooftop Lounge) at the top of the six story buidling is the most packed of them all as this is where most of the action for foreigners, particularly the young and hip australians and other caucasians and a smattering of Japanese, chinese and koreans go to.

This multilevel palace of flash flirts with height restrictions from its rooftop bar where all of Kuta twinkles around you. Look for top DJs, a ground-level cafe and paparazzi wannabes. Munchers can enjoy a long menu of bar snacks and meals (salads, sandwiches, pastas and the like). Most, however, roam from floor to floor posing with posers and having a blast. Despite the gloss, it can get quite rowdy at night when Kuta starts thumping.

The Sky Garden top floor buffet is impressive, a mouth-watering display of barbecue sauced roast chicken, assortments of salads and pastas, and smoking skewers on a blazing grill. There are many seating options to choose from, with comfortable padded benches and long tables around the edge if you’re in for the view. Or, for more mingling you can opt for the long table in the centre under a single tree with bar stool-like seats. Behind, a large projector screen plays action movies with captions, with music provided by the DJ. Legian has a pretty impressive skyline, something we hadn’t realised until we made a trip here.

The rooftop is always crammed full of people and many drunk chicks and local indonesian girls dance at the ledge in the middle of the rooftop garden. there are many tables and chairs around the place but since it is packed full of people standing, you can hardly move as you dance to the live DJ hits of Trance, House, Club, RNB, Hip Hop hits that starts at 6:00 pm to 3:00 pm everyday.

Music Type :

SkyGarden is normally house, Bradys is R&B, and Skydome has major international DJs coming in on a Fri and Sat performing a range of different styles.

Average Drink Prives :

Drinks vary in Price but before midnight price where most drinks are 20000 RP cheaper. Most popular Drinks after midnight are Sunset Drinks 75000 RP, Triple Fruit Shakers 90000, Triple Smirnoff Chiller 90000  RP.

Opening Hours :

From 9am @ ESC for Breakfast, Irish Pub;
Georges Sports Cave Opens at 11pm;
The rest of the club SkyGarden opens @ 6pm and every other floor @9m all until 3am.

Dress Code:

informal, you can come in flip flops and shorts, however no beach attire is allowed.

From Surabaya With Love | Nightlife Story

I think there are some night clubs pretty decent to go. There are 360 (at the parking area of Royal Plaza), Cloros Pub n Resto (Jl. Sumatra), Penthouse (top floor of Central Point Mall - Carefour Ngagel), Vertical Six (JW Marriot hotel), D'esperados (Shang-Rila hotel), Tavern Bar (Hotel Bumi Surabaya - previously Hyatt hotel), and the brand new one is M1 Super Club at Citywalk of Pakuwon Trade Centre.
I personally so much liking the concept of M1 Super Club, they several time had international DJ performance such as Dash Berlin (#7 DJ Mag poll), Above and Beyond, and their resident DJs are cool as well.  For me, this is my list for best club in Surabaya : 1. M1 Superclub 2. 360 3. Penthouse Well, some like Vertical Six, D'esperados, Tavern, I don't like the music they play. And Colors is too crowded with teenage or some college students, small place, and too many smoking

From Jakarta With Love | Nightlife Story

Jakarta nightlife has changed quite a bit since my previous guides: "Jakarta Love Nightlife 2011", "Jakarta Nightlife 2012" and "Jakarta Nightlife Tips". Before you head out tonite, these are the latest trends in the Jakarta's partying scene: The new center of Jakarta love nightlife in 2014 is in SCBD (Sudirman Central Business District), in the ex-Bengkel area. In 2 years, many bars and clubs have opened there and they attract the wealthy, trendy youth of Jakarta:

To have a drink, try Lucy in the Sky, Potato Head Garage, Beer Garden, Canos in Foundry 8 For clubbing: Fable (Young crowd, Jakarta International School) or Empirica (Upper Class Indo Chinese). These places do not have too many tourists or expatriates yet. Apart from that area, two new clubs worth trying have opened in 2013: Alibi on Rasuna Said (replacing JackRabbit) and the popular Exodus from the Stadium group. Immigrant was still on top of the game when it closed down for renovation a few months ago. We can expect it will still be popular with a more mature crowd (25-45 years old) when it reopens.

Dragonfly, Red Square (closed) and X2 now attract mostly foreigners and girls looking for foreigners, with a varying proportion of working girls in each (high in Red Square, lower in X2 and Dragonfly). Equinox in X2 is always full on weekends but the crowd is not as upper class as it used to be. The following bars/lounge/restaurants are usually always busy with expats on weekend nights: Loewy, Bluegrass, Aphrodite, Liquid Exchange, Social House, Cork & Screw, Union, Potato Head, Eastern Promise, De Hooi, Fez, Face Bar, Awan Lounge, Molly Malone's, Murphy's, Black Cat, Melly's, Vin +. Level 5 of Grand Indonesia is nice too with many new cafés like Warung Kopi Tinggi, H5, Ismaya Catering Co.

There are 3 popular rooftop bars in Jakarta: SKYE LOVE is the best one with regular events. It is a good place to start a party night and it is busy every day. Cloud is very similar. You also have Awan Lounge in Kosenda hotel but for a younger, cheaper crowd

From Jakarta With Love | Nightlife Story
From Jakarta With Love | Nightlife Story
Hard Rock Cafe has moved for a third time in 10 years. It is now in Pacific Place but it isn't really happening. Blowfish has been renovated. It is smaller and has become more quiet. Domain as well has some good nights but it is mostly quiet. Prices have increased. It is not uncommon to pay a 200,000rp entrance fee in the most popular clubs. Jackrabbit, Luv's Bar and Tribeca have closed. Jaya Pub hasn't and it is still the oldest bar in Jakarta nightlife. BATS, CJs, Blok M are pretty much the same as before: They have live music, expats and businessmen, and lots of working girls. You can go there pretty much any day of the week and it should be busy. Some other hotel bars are not really happening but they are ok for a drink: Burgundy (Hyatt), MO (Mandarin Oriental). Tiga Puluh (Le Meridien) and Tempus (Ritz Carlton Mega Kuningan) have live music as well but aren't too crowded.

-- From Jakarta With Love | Nightlife Story --

Bars in Jalan Jaksa change name regularly, but the atmosphere hasn't changed. It is a mix of young indonesians, working girls, professional girlfriends, backpackers, budget expatriates, gays and random people. 7/11 stores are becoming the new cheap bars in Jakarta. On Weekends Love, they will be full everywhere. Off the beaten track but very popular too, De Leila is where Saudis go to party of love in Jakarta. In Kemang, it is hard to keep track but Nu China, 365 and Triple Nine are still there and crowded. There is a new strip of bars on Jalan Taman Kemang with many recent openings: Umbra, Beer Brother, Parc 19, Liberica, Cowboys Saloon. Hipsters may want to check Treehouse or Cafe Mondo.

In North Love Jakarta, the music is changing: Techno Kota/ Techno Dangdut/ Funky House is slowly becoming a thing of the past. They don't have it anymore in Mille's and Millenium (but still in Crown, Exotis, Puja Sera). The popular places are still the same: Stadium and Crown are the busiest ones even during the week. (Update May 2014: Stadium is currently closed following the death by overdose of a Policeman).

Still packed as well are Club 36, Malio Club, Alexis, Mille's and Millenium. Sexy dancers and striptease (full naked or boobs only) is the norm in many places: Classic, Malioboro, Crown, Club 36, V2, Emporium, Sumo, etc etc... Even in Stadium during the week... Prostitution and massage parlours are still operating freely in the capital of the largest Muslim country in the world (Travel Hotel, Classic, Fortune, Malioboro, Alexis, Emporium, Orchardz, etc... basically all the clubs outside of the city center). Drug use is also massive in North Jakarta even though the prices have tripled in a few years.

The only major new nightlife venue in North Love Jakarta, 1001 (Colosseum) is a surprising success. I consider it to be one of the most impressive nightclubs in the city. Great lighting, great music and good crowd. On the other hand, Illigals, even though it has some interesting events is still rather quiet. There is also some nightlife that has emerged outside of Jakarta's city center: In particular, in Central Park Mall near Taman Anggrek and in Pantai Indah Kapuk, near Pluit. Those are Cafés/lounges, no real nightlclubs to my knowledge.

Closing hours for the night clubs is very unpredictable. Officially, it is 3am but it seems to change every week. Normally, clubs in the South close at 5am maximum, and clubs in Kota around 7am-9am. Clubs that can be used for afters are Mille's and Exotis. It is very common to rent a karaoke room to keep the party going in some clubs like Stadium, Millenium, Crown. Since I cannot be everywhere all the time, please drop a comment if I missed something! Thanks a lot!

Hard Rock Cafe : Kuta Bali

Roxuai : Hard Rock Cafe : Kuta Bali

Bali has been the primary focus of Indonesia's tourist industry for quite some time. The only Hindu society in Southeast Asia, lively religious observance now permeates every aspect of modern Balinese life. When in Bali, people also like to worship at the great shrine of Rock 'n' Roll, the Hard Rock Cafe Bali, where rock gods and royalty alike are honored.  Hard Rock Cafe.

Hard Rock Cafe : Kuta Bali
Hard Rock Cafe : Kuta Bali
Like what i've said, the main party place of Kuta and Bali is at JL legian area and the main Beach Road (JL Pantai Kuta) has a more sedate nightlife as only a few good bars in in there and the most famous is the Iconic Hard Rock Cafe Bali, located in the entrance of the Hard Rock Hotel Bali.

I love this place. The bartenders, waiters and waitresses are so friendly that they don't just serve you with a smile. They strike a friendly conversation with you. I was here for some drinks with a friend on our first night in Bali. After dinner, we headed straight to the Rock Shop to buy some souvenirs from this beautiful island. Got me a Hard Rock Bali shirt.

During the day, it serves as a restaurant serving various meals that hard rock is known for and starting at around 9:00 pm, it becomes a bar and there are live bands playing with no cover charge starting at 10:30 pm to 1:00 am everyday. this place is for avid rockers and curious foreigners and more of the older set rather than the younger set in the JL Legian Area. the entrance of the Hard Rock Cafe is beside the Rock Shop of the Hard Rock Hotel.

The venue features a main dining area upstairs which is open for lunch and dinner, while the lower stage area and bar sets the atmosphere for guests who wish to dine with an attitude. Hard Rock Cafe Bali has a 450-seat capacity and nightly live entertainment staged in front of a stained-glass Elvis image.

Next to the Cafe is a merchandise store, the Rock Shop, where you can buy official quality Hard Rock Bali T-shirts and collectible pins. One-of-a-kind Rock T-shirts designed by artists like Bon Jovi, Green Day and Shakira make the T-shirts top shelf items. Specially designed Hard Rock collectibles include pins that display rock personalities, from the Spinning Bike and Rock House Series to the Roller Boogie collection.

To public visitors, those not staying at the adjacent Hard Rock Hotel Bali, parking may be a slight issue. Across the road is the Kuta Beach parking space that gets crowded during special concerts and events, therefore public transport is the most practical way to arrive.

opens:

11:30 amd to 1:00 am everyday

Fav dish

there is an extensive selection of drinks and their signature cocktails like pickled tink or blue devil at 109,000 rupiah and order, the main cocktail the fruitapalooza at 119,000 rupiah an order. beers are extensive and costs 55,000 rupiah for bintang, 50,000 for anker, 65,000 for heineken and more.

Dress Code:

Casual, you can come in shorts and flip flops, there is no specific dress code. You just have to be decent. As this is located near or quite accessible to the beach, it's perfectly fine to come in shorts and tank tops, sneakers or flipflops. As long as you're dressed to have fun, go to Hard Rock.

Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

@ Roxuai : Bali Nightlife : The Sky Garden Legian

Sky Garden is very close to the Sari and the Paddy’s Club where the bombings had taken place. The night was glowing and crowds were all over the street. Legian resembled any other South Asia nightspot like the Walking Street of Pattaya,  Patong in Phuket or Changkat in KL. There were very few Indians though on the streets.  Most of the crowd was Australian or European.

Without much thought, I sprang inside, hoping to catch some beer and music. The place was massive and had multiple dance floors at various levels all roaring with music. The place also had a nice terrace bar from which you could get a bird’s eye view of the Denpasar landscape. The dance floor in the centre was huge and this is where most of the action seemed to be. It was encapsulated within a huge dome which resembled the night sky, thanks, to the terrific effects generated by laser. There was spiral staircase which rose into the galleries overlooking the central dance floor. After a detailed recce, I decided to pick up a Bintang a popular Indonesian Beer and settled on a bar stool overlooking the central dance floor. The laser show emanating from the stage was pulsating. I began to feel the beat as DJ Chardy  was belting the latest in hip hop. I must confess that I was beginning to enjoy the music even though I know very little about hip hop. As the night was sinking in, I felt, a strong hand on my shoulder.

The main stage was buzzing with pyro technics and laser shows. One of the shows in which the artist transformed the laser cords into a giant musical instrument, was particularly impressive. There was Lebanese guy who was playfully blocking my mobile camera as I tried to take pictures. On the other side a Chinese group kept taking tequila shots till they could no longer stand. The ubiquitous Australians were all over shouting, singing and roaring into the night. By now Pandeyji was many a drinks down and was in his elements. He took the centre stage and I could see flashes of Dharmendar as he danced.  Nevertheless he was getting applauded from all across.

The Balinese are a hardy lot. They surely have bounced back from the events of 2002. The place now, is a melting pot, where you can find people from all over the World merging into the spirits and the chants of  the Kecak dance. Bali is an island of tranquility, tolerance and acceptance in a region which is otherwise struggling with its identity. Like all beautiful places , Bali too has been hit hard but as someone says the World is a mean place and it will hit you hard and keep you down on your knees if you let it. But it isn’t about how hard you can hit back , it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. Bali has moved a long way and  it will keep moving forward as the God's reside here.

Legian Street The Nightlife of Bali

Roxuai : Legian Street The Nightlife of Bali

Spend one evening walking in legian street , you can dine and shop. there's plenty of international restaurants , pups and clothing stores. it's more live at night and can be very crowded but it's safe for female traveler to walk at night.  Legian Road or Jalan Legian is the main street that runs north-south from Kuta to Seminyak on the island of Bali in Indonesia. Legian Road contains a variety of shops, bars, hotels and dance clubs. Its proximity to the beach and its prominent night life make it host to thousands of tourists.

Legian Street The Nightlife of Bali
Legian Street The Nightlife of Bali

Indonesian girls looks crowded in this area, although mostly of them are immigrant (from Java island or another area of Indonesia) but tourist still considered them as Bali girls. Kuta Nightlife : Sky Garden 61 Legian Bali

Roxuai : Kuta Nightlife : Sky Garden 61 Legian Bali

Legian Sky garden is the most crowded and most popular club in Bali but it inly occupies the top floor of Legian 61, so this tip will be on the Legian 61 Complex, I will have a separate tip on the Legian Sky Garden. 61 Legian is the tallest building in the JL Legian area and you would not miss it as it lies just beside the Vi Ai Pi and a stone's throw away from the Bali Bomb Memorial. this buidling complex houses 6 floors and 10 different entertainment complexes like ESC Urban Food Station, Blarney Stone, Club Cyclone, Brandy's Club, Heineken Beer Garden, VIP Gold Pass Lounge, The VIP Sky High Club, George's Sports and the most popular of them all, the Legian Sky Garden at the Roof Top. these complexes have different opening and closing times but the main entrance is located at the ground floor of which foreigners are charged an entrance fee of 50,000 rupiah for entrance for all venues

Sky Garden started as a simple, forward-thinking, dining and entertainment venue on Jalan Legian, right in the centre of downtown Kuta in 2005. From those humble beginnings they have now become one of the largest and most frequented venues on the island. Sky has always had a trend setting, contemporary edge right from the beginning, utilizing dynamic ideas, design and promotional visuals and activities to attract a variety of customers over the years including expats, locals, and obviously a large bunch of tourists. With the final stages being completed now, and with a firm date of completion locked in for this December 26th, we thought it was time the beat caught up with Marketing Chief, Sean Mac for a chat about Bali’s busiest venue.

Another good thing about Sky Garden is that the entrance is free, so if you are not sure whether you will like it or not, you can always check inside first. If you order drinks though, it will be more expensive than the average for Kuta (Rp50k for a beer if I remember correctly). The different complexes are interconnected by several stairways and different dance lounges and you would hardly know where the specific area you are unless you read the signs signifying you are in this particular place.  most of the venues are open from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am everyday

Dress Code:

casual, they accept shorts and flip flops but no beach attire please.
