Kuta Nightlife : Sky Garden 61 Legian Bali

Roxuai : Kuta Nightlife : Sky Garden 61 Legian Bali

Legian Sky garden is the most crowded and most popular club in Bali but it inly occupies the top floor of Legian 61, so this tip will be on the Legian 61 Complex, I will have a separate tip on the Legian Sky Garden. 61 Legian is the tallest building in the JL Legian area and you would not miss it as it lies just beside the Vi Ai Pi and a stone's throw away from the Bali Bomb Memorial. this buidling complex houses 6 floors and 10 different entertainment complexes like ESC Urban Food Station, Blarney Stone, Club Cyclone, Brandy's Club, Heineken Beer Garden, VIP Gold Pass Lounge, The VIP Sky High Club, George's Sports and the most popular of them all, the Legian Sky Garden at the Roof Top. these complexes have different opening and closing times but the main entrance is located at the ground floor of which foreigners are charged an entrance fee of 50,000 rupiah for entrance for all venues

Sky Garden started as a simple, forward-thinking, dining and entertainment venue on Jalan Legian, right in the centre of downtown Kuta in 2005. From those humble beginnings they have now become one of the largest and most frequented venues on the island. Sky has always had a trend setting, contemporary edge right from the beginning, utilizing dynamic ideas, design and promotional visuals and activities to attract a variety of customers over the years including expats, locals, and obviously a large bunch of tourists. With the final stages being completed now, and with a firm date of completion locked in for this December 26th, we thought it was time the beat caught up with Marketing Chief, Sean Mac for a chat about Bali’s busiest venue.

Another good thing about Sky Garden is that the entrance is free, so if you are not sure whether you will like it or not, you can always check inside first. If you order drinks though, it will be more expensive than the average for Kuta (Rp50k for a beer if I remember correctly). The different complexes are interconnected by several stairways and different dance lounges and you would hardly know where the specific area you are unless you read the signs signifying you are in this particular place.  most of the venues are open from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am everyday

Dress Code:

casual, they accept shorts and flip flops but no beach attire please.

Made's Warung Kuta Bali

Roxuai : Made's Warung Kuta Bali

Made's Warung is located along Kuta Beach Road (Jalan Pantai Kuta).Made's Warung is a large venue with enough space to cater for large groups. I sat at a table next to the inner patio and had a carrot juice and some prawns crackers while waiting for my Nasi Campur special.  A Nasi Campur is not a specific dish. It simply means a meal of plain rice with different "sides". My Nasi Campur special included curried aubergines, green chicken curry, deep-fried tempeh, chili prawns, anchovies, cucumber salad, spinach, fried tofu, chili, curried fish, a sort of ratatouille and sambal. I may have forgotten some of the sides, but I remember how tasty and filling the whole dish was

This restaurant is famous along the area, and many fellows blogger had a comments about it!   Comprehensive menu of both loccal and western dishes. Nice ambience with that laid back Balinese feel as the ceiling fans rotate slowly and you see the different crowd in the restaurant. A favourite place to meet , have a meal and catch-up for the locals, expats and tourist.

The Nasi Campur was serve in a big portion of beef, chicken, vegetables and other local special. The aroma of the rice was good! I like Curry chicken which was cook in a different method, I believe the local spices made the curry taste so Delicious!  Most of us cannot finish all, because all serve in big portion!

Favorite Dish:

Lumpia, Vegetable roll in a thin batter and deep fried. Nasi Goreng a one plate complete meal taste good at Made's too. They also serve yummy Pisang Goreng drizled with chocolate sauce and honey or you can request for a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Jalan Legian Kuta Bali (Night View)

Roxuai : Jalan Legian Kuta Bali (Night View)

At Night, Jalan Legian Transforms into one large party place, which is concentrated in the vicinity of the Bali Memorial up to after a hundred meters from the entrance to Poppies Lane 2 and the various sounds of hip hop, trance and club music from many bars and clubs are ear splitting to say the least. the road will begin to get busy at 10pm, peaking in traffic around 1 or 2 in the morning before easing down again at 3:00 am as local Bali government imposed a deadline closing time of 3:00 am for all restaurants and bars and lounges and clubs in bali since 2011.

JL Pantai Kuta maybe the Beach Road but JL Legian, lying parallel to it, and is just a few hundred meters away from Kuta Beach, is the main street of Kuta and of the whole of Bali as this long street that starts from seminyak up to the intersection with JL Pantai Kuta, is the hotspot of the Party, Dining and Nightlife Activity of Kuta and Bali. During the day, this main street is busy with shoppers and tourists who will eat at the assorted restaurants and shops and beach shops like sufer girl that lies along the street. it has openings to the famous alleys of Kuta, Poppies Lane 1 and 2 and tons of souvenir shops and notorious "magic mushroom" hallucegenic drugs. haggling is the norm in this shopping area as prices are inflated for the tourists.

Surf at Kuta Beach

Roxuai : Surf at Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach is more appropiate for surfing rather than swimming as the waves in kuta beach are large and with riptides present. it was discovered by backpackers in the 1970's primarily as a surfing area too although you could swim in kuta beach, be careful of the stong currents and big waves. You will find avid surfers along the whole length of the beach trying to catch good waves to ride them and although the waves in the Banzai Pipeline in Oahu Hawaii is the best, Kuta beach has it's fair share of avid surfer dudes.

Surf at Kuta Beach
Surf at Kuta Beach

Once a lonely little village on the road from Denpasar to Bukit Peninsula, Kuta is now the tourist Mecca of Bali, popular mainly among the young and adventurous. Kuta beach is one of the first favorite beaches discovered by tourist. Coconut trees line the sand beach as far as the eyes can see towards the north stopped by the runway of Denpasar's airport far in the west. The sunset in Kuta is most breathtaking. On the south, the beach is fenced by the airport's runway, which gives the visitors a breathtaking landing experience. Kuta Beach bustles with tourists' vendors and locals. It's the most popular beach in Bali and the island's number one party zone. The beach stretches as far north as the eyes can see. As short walk away north, the waves will invite to surfing. Rapid development and an influx of visitors haven't kept the surfers away and Kuta still remains one of Bali's best surfing beaches and a great place to enjoy a beach lifestyle.

While the surfers are still part of the Kuta scene, it's the shopping, nightlife and party vibes that attracts thousands of visitors. There's a huge choice of accommodation, restaurants and entertainment. The accommodation in Kuta range from a modest home stay for a few dollars a night to luxurious, five star, international hotels costing several hundred to several thousand dollars a night. Legian Street, situated directly behind the row of hotels that face the beach, is lined with shops of all varieties. We can find any Balinese handicrafts here, from the least expensive to the most exquisite; or unique stores such as the leather store staffed by two young Balinese men that will perfectly sculpt a leather jacket. (They are all extremely talented artists). _At night, Kuta is alive with night life. Western influences create discotheques, dance clubs, and pubs. Gastronomical demands inspire a multitude of restaurants, serving traditional Indonesian and Balinese food to various ethnic meals from Japan, Switzerland, etc. As if these were not enough, various Balinese dance performances are staged in Kuta every night. One of the best Kecak performances is found in Kuta.

But for the stronger waves, most surfers go to the beach facing Tanah Lot Temple further north as the waves there are higher and are more powerful.
